Philosophy & Resources
PHILOSOPHY
Children are eager to learn and they learn best when exposed to a variety of experiences. We encourage children to become actively involved in all planned activities and allow them many opportunities for self-directed play. When planning a suitable program for your children, we take into consideration the child’s emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth. Nursery School will provide your child with many opportunities to socialize with peers, interact with adults, and gain some independence within a semi-structured environment.
RESOURCES
Entering nursery school may be an emotional experience for you and your child; a new environment, new friends, and new teachers. For some children, attending Nursery School marks their first separation from family. Understandably, this separation may create some anxiety. We have included an article titled “Coping with Separation Anxiety”, which we hope will provide you with some information to help your child adjust.
Several good books are available in our Parent Resource Library which may be of interest to parents with young children. Please see staff if you are interested in borrowing any of these materials.
